Hi,
Cloud0 and Maelstrom now both support encrypted FTP to protect your
username and password from being sent in cleartext. We strongly
recommend all customers use TLS (Your client may call it "FTP over
SSL") when FTPing in future.
If your client does not support TLS/SSL, we have tested SmartFTP
(www.smartftp.com) and found that it works with our service.
To ensure that TLS is used, make sure that when you configure your
favourite to select "FTP over SSL explicit" as the protocol. If you are
using the quick connect toolbar, there is an icon to the left of the
address bar that drops down and has FTP over SSL (explicit) underneath
it.
You should then see evidence of encryption being used in the connection
log pane - if for whatever reason SSL isn't available, the client will
refuse to connect. Remember to select regular FTP for servers that you
connect to which do not support SSL/TLS.
