Hi,
Maintenance on cloud0 is still ongoing.
What could be rescued of the mysql databases and your site data has been
restored, and site requests and database requests are being served as
normally as possible.
At present all that remains is the reinstigation of DNS and email
services; given that we run a highly customised version of the Exim Mail
Transport Agent, this may take some time to get working correctly. Users
will be unable to send or receive mail until this work is complete.
There is a possibility that some mail has been bounced while the
maintenance has been ongoing, and that some mail waiting to be read on
the server may also have been damaged or lost.
On the whole we believe that 90-95% of the data on the server by volume
has been restored sucessfully, though unfortunately the small percentage
that could not yet be retrieved is sufficient to cause major upsets to
MySQL tables - some users may find that they have unusable tables. Work
will continue on the disk on Thursday in order to try to recover more of
the data, but no promises can be made as to the likelihood of success.
If you have any backups of your own you want us to restore I ask you to
send an email to phil at lchost.co.uk detailing the problems with the data
that has been restored and what you wish to restore, and what format you
have it in. I will thn contact you as soon as I am able to in order to
arrange the restoration of your data from your copies of the data.
LCHost can only apologise for what has been an unbfortunate sequence of
events - we will be taking steps to try to minimise further data loss as
of next week.
Regards,
Phillip Baker
