Hi everyone,
I'm still working on cloud0 - apologies for the extended delay.
First the good news - so far I'm having some luck with making copies of
your web data - I'm busy replicating it across an NFS mount to some
equipment with raid in (to ensure the only copy of the data is not
lost).
The bad news - I've not got very far through what's on the disk yet.
Significant amounts of data may be unrecoverable though I will of course
do my best. The other bad news is that this could take quite a while to
go through the disk as the disk faults cause a significant slow down in
access and transfer speeds. Please be aware that I will not leave site
until the webserver is fully functional again, and that no effort is
being spared in returning your sites and mail to full service.
As you are aware at present LCHost webhosting does not offer
backups of customer data, so what we manage to restore will be on a best
effort basis. Once the hard disk in cloud0 is replaced again and what
data we have is restored, we will be implementing a nightly backup job
onto some spare equipment in order to minimise loss in future and
increase the value and quality of the service we provide to you - while
there are no specific guarantees about the backup quality it should
prevent 99.9% of loss in future.
I will continue to keep you posted as the work progresses.
Regards,
Phillip Baker
